Otoborn – Sesi test pra musim 2016 sudah berjalan dan semua tim dan pebalap melakukan test untuk mencari kenyamanan diatas motor masing masing. Regulasi baru yang mengharuskan memakai single ECU dan menggunakan ban Michellin membuat banyak rider kesulitan.

Tidak terkecuali tim Aprilia Racing Team Gressini yang juga menurunkan Alvaro Bautista dan Stefan Bradl. Dibawah arahan manajer Romano Albesiano kedua rider tersebut melakoni test dua hari penuh yang digelar di sirkuit Valencia Ricardo Tormo bersama RS-GP, setelah menyelesaikan aksinya pada seri terakhir musim 2015 di sirkuit yang sama.

Sama seperti tim lain, isu mengenai ban depan Michellin juga dirasakan oleh para rider Aprilia ini. Disamping penyesuaian ECU baru yang wajib dikenakan oleh semua motor tanpa terkecuali.

ALVARO BAUTISTA

“These were two very intense days with the big change being the tyres and we still need to do a lot of work on them. The rear end performance is already quite good, but there is still a lot of room for improvement on the feeling with the front end. We will definitely have to change a lot both in terms of settings on the bike and riding style. To take the best advantage of the new tyres you have to favour braking with the bike straight. They have different characteristics compared to what we were accustomed to and it will take time to find the right compromise.”

STEFAN BRADL

“These were definitely two demanding days of testing because the Michelins have a very different feeling than what we were accustomed to, especially the front, and that caused a lot of crashes. So we worked a lot on the bike setup to try and improve this feeling and to get the tyres to work as best as possible. We worked on fork adjustments, geometries and weight distribution. We still haven’t achieved the results we had hoped for, but it was important to begin this job. At the end of the month we’ll go to Jerez so we can continue this adaptation process on another track as well.”

Tim Aprilia rupanya cukup kesulitan dengan regulasi yang ditetapkan untuk musim 2016 ini. Pada musim 2015, mereka sudah berupaya ekstra keras untuk bisa bersaing dengan pengaturan ban Bridgestone serta lainnya. Kedua rider menorehkan hasil lumayan, yaitu posisi 18 untuk Alvaro Baustita dan 16 untuk Stefan Bradl di akhir klasemen musim 2015.

Namun demikian, mereka berusaha keras agar tetap kompetitif dan konsisten dengan ban Michellin dan single electronic system yang juga digunakan oleh tim lain di musim 2016.
